About Us

Muay Chaiya Federation Hong Kong China was founded by Kru Andrew So (Mongkol Gold-Silver) and his disciple Kru Ryan Wong.

Ryan Wong initially trained in Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong under Kru Andrew. Later, upon Kru Andrew’s recommendation, he studied Muay Chaiya with the grandmaster Kridakorn Sodprasert (also known as Kru Lek) at Baanchangthai training camp. He earned the highest qualification from the International Muay Chaiya Association (IMCA). Together with his mentor Kru Andrew, he founded the Muay Chaiya Federation Hong Kong China to preserve Muay Chaiya and Krabi Krabong skills and promote the culture of traditional Thai martial arts (both unarmed combat and weapons).

As a government-registered non-profit organization and a regional member under the International Muay Chaiya Association (IMCA), we are committed to promoting the cultural heritage of traditional Thai martial arts. We organize related events and training courses and assess the skills of students and instructors according to the standards set by the central association.

Ranking and Coaching Promotion Structure of Muay Chaiya Federation Hong Kong China

The Muay Chaiya Federation Hong Kong China implements a rigorous ranking and coaching system to ensure that both practitioners and coaches uphold authentic standards of the art. All competition participants are awarded an armband (Pra-Jiet) as a symbol of honor.

Skill levels are divided into nine stages (Level 1 to Level 9), clearly reflecting the progression of each student. The coaching system consists of three grades, each with strict advancement criteria:

• Only those who reach Level 6 are eligible to attempt the Grade 1 Coach assessment.

• A Level 7 skill is required to take the Grade 2 Coach assessment.

• Level 8 skill is necessary for the Grade 3 Coach assessment.

The Federation strongly advocates training in both empty-hand and weapon techniques concurrently, as mastering both ensures comprehensive combat ability. Those who choose to specialize only in one discipline (either empty-hand or weapon) may achieve up to Level 5 only.

This structure is designed to uphold the rich tradition, foster the development of qualified instructors, and enable practitioners to progress step by step with correct martial ethics, promoting the culture of Muay Chaiya.
